a) Timing of ovum pick up:- This is usually done 34-38 hours after the injection of HCG.
b) Procedure  :- It is done under sedation or general anesthesia using a transvaginal ultrasound probe. The follicles are visualized and aspirated into affine tubing and then into test tube.
Each tube containing the egg and the fluid is then passed into the IVf laboratory to be examined. The eggs are harvested and incubated .The procedure takes about 20-30 min. On an average eggs are retrieved from 80% of the mature follicles.If the eggs are not recovered ( Unsual ) you will be told where the problem was and what the next step will be.
