Sperm Bank

Our center has in house facility for freezing sperms. Sperm freezing is requested for various reasons.

Safety Freezing:

This is usually done in case the husband is unable to donate the semen on the day of IUI or ovum pick-up. This is due to anxiety, tension or husbands working outside. This is also offered to patients who are to undergo chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Since both these procedures alter the Sperm parameters & can induce genetic mutation. Patients advised to freeze their semen before taking chemotherapy or radiography.

Pooled Freezing:

2 - 4 samples of semen are frozen in patients with low sperm counts so that these sample can be pulled to obtain a single sample adequate for IUI or IVF.

Sperm BankPatient who opt for semen freezing are tested for HIV, HbAg & VDRL. Abstinence of 4 to 5 days is advised. Semen is mixed with a sperm freezing media & frozen in prelabelled vials at 192 c in liquid nitrogen containers. Frozen semen samples can be kept for months into sperm bank. Patients have to pay freezing charges every 6 months.

Donor Sperm

Male patients with sub fertile sperm parameters, who do not opt for IVF cycles, can avail of the IUI treatment using donor semen samples from our sperm bank. Semen from known fertile donors is stored after evaluating the HIV & HBsAg status. Physical character of the donor and the recipient are matched as far as possible.
